What Is This Job About?
Stowe Australia is the nation’s largest privately owned electrical and communications contractor, with a 115-year legacy of excellence across design, engineering, construction, service, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure throughout Australia. The company’s Victorian operations are based in Port Melbourne, and it is from this hub that Stowe delivers a broad portfolio of industrial, commercial, and infrastructure electrical projects across the state.
As Site Supervisor and Industrial Electrician, you will operate in a combined capacity — executing licensed electrical work yourself while also taking responsibility for the supervision, coordination, and quality assurance of site teams working under your direction. You will manage day-to-day site activities across industrial electrical installations or maintenance programmes, allocate work, monitor progress, maintain safe work environments, and act as the primary interface between the site crew and the project management team at Stowe’s Port Melbourne office.
This is not a passive supervisory role. Stowe needs someone who is equally confident holding the tools on a complex industrial installation and walking a site induction with a new apprentice. Your technical authority as a licensed A Grade Electrician, combined with your organisational skills and leadership presence, will be central to the success of every project your team delivers. The broader Stowe culture — built on values of safety, respect, innovation, and teamwork — means you will be joining a company that genuinely cares about its people and has the track record to prove it.
Salary and What You Can Earn
Stowe Australia offers competitive remuneration packages for its Site Supervisor and Industrial Electrician roles, reflecting the dual responsibility of the position and the calibre of professional the role requires. Based on current Melbourne market data from Jooble (April 2026), the average salary for an A Grade Electrician in Melbourne is $94,875 per year, with the highest-paid A Grade professionals earning up to $119,769 per annum. For a combined Site Supervisor and Industrial Electrician role at a company of Stowe’s scale and reputation, the realistic total remuneration range including superannuation is approximately $100,000 to $130,000 per annum, depending on experience, supervisory scope, and project demands.
Beyond base pay, Stowe offers an extraordinary range of employee benefits. The company’s profit-sharing programme has distributed over $140 million to staff since 1988 — an extraordinary commitment to recognising employee contribution. Additional benefits include Rostered Days Off (RDOs), an apprenticeship development programme, an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), an employee discounts and rewards platform, a comprehensive wellbeing and occupational rehabilitation programme, access to an industry-leading incentive programme, and the intangible but deeply meaningful benefit of working for a company that treats its people as its most valuable asset.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- You will supervise, coordinate, and direct the activities of a site-based team of electricians, apprentices, and electrical trades assistants, allocating tasks in line with project scope, programme, and safety requirements, and monitoring progress to ensure that daily production targets are met.
- You will personally undertake licensed A Grade electrical work as required across industrial installations, maintenance activities, and project-based electrical works, demonstrating technical leadership and maintaining the high standard of workmanship that Stowe’s clients expect on every job.
- You will ensure the safety of all personnel working under your supervision by conducting pre-start safety meetings, reviewing and signing off Safe Work Method Statements, carrying out daily site safety inspections, and immediately addressing any unsafe conditions, behaviours, or near-misses identified on site.
- You will read and interpret electrical plans, specifications, drawings, and project documentation, ensuring that all electrical installations are executed in accordance with the approved design and in compliance with AS/NZS 3000:2018, the Electricity Safety Act 1998 (Vic), and Stowe’s own quality management system.
- You will coordinate material deliveries, manage on-site materials and tool inventory, and liaise with the Stowe project management team regarding procurement requirements, programme updates, and any technical queries or variations that arise during the delivery of the work.
- You will complete required site supervision documentation including daily site diaries, time sheets, plant records, inspection records, and any other project reporting required by Stowe or the client.
- You will manage the quality and compliance of all electrical installations on site, conducting in-process and completion inspections, verifying test results, and ensuring that all certificates of test and compliance documentation are completed accurately and submitted on time.
- You will supervise and develop apprentice electricians working within your team, providing structured on-the-job guidance, mentoring, and feedback in accordance with Stowe’s apprenticeship programme requirements and the broader obligations of a supervising licensed electrician under Energy Safe Victoria guidelines.
- You will represent Stowe professionally in all interactions with clients, principal contractors, subcontractors, and site personnel, maintaining the company’s strong reputation for technical excellence and professional conduct on every engagement.
