What Is Amapiano ?
Amapiano, which means “the pianos” in Zulu, emerged around 2012–2014 in Gauteng. It blends deep house, jazz, kwaito, and lounge music into a sound that is distinctly South African. While it began as a township-born subgenre, it has evolved into a mainstream genre dominating clubs, radio, and global music charts.
