Mr Thela ft Zuko SA – Yhini

South African Gqom and electronic pioneer Mr Thela teams up with powerhouse vocalist Zuko SA on the captivating single Yhini. Translating from Xhosa as an expression of surprise, disbelief, or emotional overwhelm (“What is this?” or “Why?”), the record stands as a deeply moving fusion of hard-hitting Cape Town Gqom energy and soulful vocal storytelling.

The sound design of Yhini is built upon Mr Thela’s signature atmospheric, high-octane production engine. Constructed with sharp, crisp shakers, heavy kick drums, steady rimshots, and a rolling, sub-heavy bassline, the track delivers immense low-end weight and continuous drive. Sweeping synth pads, haunting organ stabs, and spatial echo textures float across the mix, creating an expansive, emotional sanctuary within a dancefloor structure.

Lyrically and vocally, Yhini explores themes of heart-wrenching disbelief, love, and life’s unpredictable turns. Zuko SA delivers a passionate, velvet-toned vocal performance filled with expressive Xhosa phrasing, soaring harmonies, and an unforgettable, heart-stirring hook that effortlessly rides the track’s driving percussive momentum.

Yhini stands out as a polished, high-vibe release that perfectly bridges raw electronic power with rich vocal depth. For playlist curators, radio programmers, and African dance music selectors seeking a track packed with emotional authority, club weight, and lasting replay value, this collaboration offers immediate impact.
