The Australian company Ace Events has filed a law suit in court against Amapiano artists Kelvin Momo’s company, Kelvin Momo Production, putting Kelvin in danger of financial ruin.
The claim alleges that the 31-year-old hitmaker’s company owes up to R2.8 million in refunds and damages due to his failure to perform at two scheduled shows in Australia last year 2024.
According to Ace Events director Million Mwenge Butshiire stated that Kelvin Momo and his team received a 50% deposit for the performances but they failed to show up.
Kelvin Momo and Ace Events’ agreement stated the following.
The show performance dates was to be on November 2, 2024, he had a 60-minute show in Melbourne, and on November 3, he had another 60-minute show in Perth.
The Terms of payment are listed below:-
US$7,500 (over R137 000) performance fee for Perth, also a US$10,000 (over R180 0000) performance fee for Melbourne which 50% deposit paid was upfront payment, with am agreement balance due in seven days before the event.
According to the agreement, they would reschedule within three months of the postponement or cancellation if Kelvin Momo was unable to attend the performance. The promoter would need to be refunded right away if they were unable to perform and reschedule.
Ace Events claims that Momo did not show up for the gigs and failed to refund the promoter or reschedule the performances within the agreed time frame.
This is not the first time the musician has missed a performance. He caused a stir among fans in April when he did not show up for Piano Palooza in Zambia. Fans were disappointed and irate when Kelvin Momo claimed he couldn’t make his flight because of a conflicting gig in Limpopo.
