DUMI MKOKSTAD achieved a defining milestone in contemporary South African gospel music with his massive, hit-packed studio project, EGAMENI LIKAJESU (“In the Name of Jesus”), released under Big Sound Music.
Blending traditional Xhosa/Zulu gospel roots with polished modern instrumentation, the 12-track album stands as a masterclass in faith, praise, and intercessory worship. From high-energy congregational praise anthems to slow-burning, emotionally raw prayer ballads, EGAMENI LIKAJESU showcases Dumi at the absolute peak of his vocal and ministerial craft.
Produced with pristine sonic clarity, EGAMENI LIKAJESU balances acoustic warmth with high-fidelity production. Built around warm grand piano progressions, lush Hammond organ swells, clean electric guitar riffs, and a tight rhythm section, the instrumentation gives Dumi’s fiery, passionate vocals room to soar. Supported by a world-class backing choir, the album’s rich, multi-layered call-and-response harmonies give every song a grand, congregational feel.
Across its runtime, EGAMENI LIKAJESU by DUMI MKOKSTAD remains an enduring masterpiece and a benchmark recording in African gospel history.
